Guest Blogger

Hi y'all--

My name is Brandy and I live in Texas and my mom has asked me to periodically guest blog for her. I thought that I would share with you some of my old finds and how I've implemented them into my decor. I like finding ways to give new purpose to old items.

Y'all may remember my guest bedroom that my mom posted about before when I was first putting it together. I have since slowly been adding accessories as I find them. One of my more recent finds was this old wooden ladder from England. After getting it home and spending a morning cleaning it and sealing it in my garage, I moved it into this empty corner near the en suite bathroom. I thought it would be the perfect holder for bath towels or a handy spot for guests to drape their clothes or pajamas.

Happy 4th of July!!

Baby Blues

Look at this cutie. I have four ladies that specialize in baby photography. I find it so much fun to find props for them. This is my latest one. I can just see a little pewee in there......

I bought this piece a few weeks ago. It will be my next project this weekend. It is very old and it's a first time for me to see wooden nails. Yes, they used wooden nails as you can see in the following photo. Unfortunately they sawed the legs off. I think it will make a great coffee table. The wooden knobs are all hand turned and the dovetails are done by hand. I love it......

Oh! sorry. The thumb prints are so tiny I selected the wrong photo. When it is finished I will show you the photo of the wooden nails. Silly ole me....

I sold this beautiful patio set to a sweet couple last week. After they bought it, they asked me it I knew someone that would paint it. It's getting painted, oh! no!......I love the patina of this one just as it is....I am sure it will be perfect and beautiful when it is finished. It is going into her house as a kitchen table. I am excited to see the fabric that she is going to use on the seats. This table will make a real garden statement in her home. I will have to get some photos of it when it is finished.

Someone took great care of this table over the years. The glass it so clear and thick. It so hard to sell these beauties. Really..have a good evening. sandi

My Latest Visit to Texas

Hey Mom, you pick the bread. Right hand or the left? It made the best toast for breakfast the next morning. Maybe it was Texas or maybe because he made it for me. But it sure tasted good.

Later that evening I was telling him some stories. He is a good listener!

Working on a project that Brandy bought at Canton. It is a cute shabby bench. It was so much fun to work with her in the garage. The dogs thought it was a lot of fun just hanging around with us.

I was trying to take a nap on the sofa and look who joined me. What can you do when this little face looks at you? The Judge said, "I just want to cuddle with you Oma". You just have to move over and make some room for him.

Daughter was trying to put her shoes on and Judge knew we were going to leave without him. We were getting ready to leave for Canton. I met Cathy from Girls gone Junking there. She was so nice to spend some time talking with us. She and Dedra were so busy I did not want to take up to much time. Their customer lines was getting longer and longer. Our photos did not turn out of Cathy and myself.

Antique Club Meeting at The Green Pea

First line of business was the Antique Club meeting. After a quick meeting the ladies enjoyed refreshments and shopping. I think everyone found something to go home with. A few ladies have returned to buy somethings they had seen but had to sleep on it first. Oh! maturity it can be to practical sometimes.

Summer Garden

Until I can find that round piece of glass to fit this old iron table, I am willing to let the chickens roost on it. They enjoy sitting on it each evening for about an hour before they go to their night time post. It is cute to see them all sitting in a circle. I am not sure who breaks up their little party but soon they are all off to bed.

We have been moving these river stones out of the back yard and into my side garden area.

My favorite flowering bush, it has been blooming for about 2 weeks now. I love the cream edges on the leaves.

I had a pathway in this garden but it is a bit overgrown now. It needs some pruning sometime soon. The gravel needs a little refreshing also. Oh! I could find a lot of things to catch up on at home if I wanted to.

This beautiful ruby red hanging lamp has a little crack in the glass, so I thought I would just enjoy it hanging in my arbor. It is so pretty when the sun shines through . The Hummingbirds seem to love it also.

Post Office Table

This table was in the Post Office for many years before being discarded. I am not sure how many years it was outside before I rescued it. The rain and the weather rusted the top so beautifully. After a little yellow paint and some sanding on the top it is a beauty now.... I am not the only one who loved it, so did the gentleman yesterday. It is his new dinning table now. You would have to agree that a one piece table top made of metal is so easy to care for. It also has a nice big drawer to hold linens, salt and pepper or silverware. The table is sturdy, practical, heavy duty and beautiful. I am sure it will be around for many years to come. It is already around 60 years old.

I have tried different chairs around it. It even looks great with the bench on one side. The bench has been sold or Peter would have bought it to go with his table. I am on the lookout for another bench that would work for him. That is not always easy to find the right piece right away. Patience!

I love this old wooden truck that some Grandfather made for the garden or patio. It would be sweet with small Christmas gifts loaded in the back. I actually dumps too!

Look at Andy in the child's pull sled. The sled would also look great with Christmas gift in it.

Some silver spoons and forks that I found at a Estate Sale. Something tells me my daughter Brandy might like them.....ya I think so. In all honesty I bought them hoping that she want them.

Hope you have a good evening. sandi

A Wonderful Sunday

This last Sunday was a wonderful day for our family. We attended Elijah's Dedication to the Lord. As Grandparents we felt so Blessed. Later in the day we had a wonderful lunch at the other Blessed Grandparents home. There were cousins, aunties, grandmothers, grandfathers and even a great grandmother hugging and kissing little Elijah. We all waited our turn to hold him and love on him. He was sooooo good and had a big smile for each one of us....May God Bless you little man. Love, Oma

Don't ya just love the color green on this old metal tool box?

I came across this old military file cabinet a few weeks ago. I think it makes for an interesting side table. It is from WWII and the drawers open and close easily. Great for storage.

I am tired of painting white and black. So here is a new paint color for me.... I am loving the brightness and cheer.

Coffee Time at The Green Pea

The morning started off early 5 am. I baked some blueberry muffins, made a fruit salad, sliced some cheese and ham, things were going well. Thought I would get to the store early. First thing to do: filled the large coffee pot with water and measured out the coffee and get it started. It takes a long time to brew. So plugged it in....Oh know! It was broken, it would not perk...called my loyal friend and asked her if I can I use her large coffee pot? Oh know! she had loaned it to someone else. What can I do?? Dear friend (Betty) brought over her little house coffee pot and some warming pots and she started to make coffee for me and filling the warming pots. Bless her, she is such a good friend. I am glad that she came up with the idea. It all turned out wonderful and we had a good time. We even had coffee left over. That was great because some of my family was driving from Canada to Southern CA and stopped in for a visit. We also had a great time catching up on our family. It was an exciting morning.

Just a few of the people who stopped in to chat and have coffee. Of course a little shopping too.

Here are a couple of loyal sweet ladies, I invited them over a month ago and they marked their calendar and did not forget to come. Thank you for getting up early and having coffee with us.

Now you can meet three of the handsome husbands in town. Mine is the one in the middle...

Meet Agatha and Larry, they are Mr. and Mrs. Escalon. Every year Escalon picks a new Mr. and Mrs. this is a very special couple. They own the Ace Hardware Store and everyone knows what good service they will get there. This is a good place to end today...Hope that your day went well too. sandi

Out and About

Here is a photo of Barney looking for a mouse that got away from him. Lucky for the mouse that Barney was not in his fast mode that morning.

Sometimes I find just the perfect little table for the store. This one was a winner. Small with drop leaves, painted a celery green, built so sturdy and heavy. Lots of charm. I wish I had tables like this come my way more often. It would also be a cute child's table.

I was fast enough to get a photo of this cute head and foot board bed bench. We already took the sweet pillows off it, when I said let me get my camera. Next step was to load the bench in her truck... and she drove away with a big smile on her face.

Here is my old dog Logan. She is a great watch dog. She stays home to keep an eye on the place. She has her eyes on a chicken that is up on a tree stump making a lot of noise.

I made delivery for a special friend and look what she made for me...Oh! does this look good or what? Yes, it was so delicious. I ate the whole thing! She even sent home some for Jim and I for lunch. You know what? Jim ate it all before I told him some was for me.....Thank you Dear friend for the wonderful thoughtful treat. I enjoyed the morning with you...
