Found in The Green Pea

My mom had this unique pair of hand-painted Chinese cranes on canvas. The paintings are old and the frames are a beautifully-aged bamboo. I spotted them on one of our trips back to California hanging in the The Green Pea. I thought that I could find a handsome spot to showcase them in my foyer. My dad, being the carpenter that he is, made me a heavy-duty, bomb-proof "crate" to ship them to Texas in and they arrived perfectly unscathed. Thanks, Mom and Dad!

Hey! come peek with me in the Pea.

My Oma has been busy working on some new treasures for The Green Pea. Here are a few of them.

Here is her new pottery pig. He will hold her business cards until someone takes him home with them. Yes, Oma will part with him....

This table is really nice, it is adjustable in height. You can raise it up and down. There are two chairs that go with the table. The table is from the Eames era, I will take in the chairs next week.

Look at this wrought iron garden table. It has a place in the middle (under the glass) for a plant or something decorative. Even some candles in a glass container might be nice.

I wish that you all have a nice weekend.

New Mexico and the Sunflower Seeds

This last week my husband and I met my parents, brother and sis-in-law and new baby, in the New Mexico Rockies. We stayed in a cabin and did some day trips around the Enchanted Circle and to Santa Fe. The terrain is diverse and very beautiful---from scrubby sagebrush to dense forests of tall evergreens and aspen.

Below is a picture of the back of the cabin that we all shared. Do you see that deck? Off of this back deck we saw wildlife galore---deer, elk, chipmunks, bats, hummingbirds, woodpeckers, and everything in between.

New Mexico happens to be one of the best bird-watching states in the U.S. I brought along some sunflower seeds and filled up the bird feeder located just off of the deck. In less than ten minutes, we were surprised by a very hungry visitor!

Have a bear-y blessed week!!

Final Projects

This will be the last time for spray painting in the old livery stable. All of the rooms will be finished in a few months (I hope). The doors all had to be custom made. The doorways had large openings for horses to go through. My husband Jim made these doors out of redwood 2x6's. I love the way they finished out. Whenever I show the doors to my customers they want to put a order in for theirs, I think not. We have our home to finish also. It was put on hold so we could work on the Pea. It has been just over three years that Jim has worked on my store. He is a love and he is so good to me. It has always been a dream to have my own store.

This is a before of the walls. I will be posting a photo when it is finished. We are still deciding what to cover the stairs with or maybe just painting them.

These doors are so heavy it takes two men to move them around.

I am so excited about these front doors and sidelights. I still have the original double wooden stable doors. I will use them in the store one day. They are stored away right now.
I wish you all a safe 4th of July. sandi
